Our October meeting opened up working conversations about our purpose, a nonprofit, finding a place and helping people get involved. Let’s keep that work moving.

No commitment to move, invest or contribute money is expected. You don’t need a prepared presentation.

Let’s take the next steps together.

Our October 24 meeting brought the idea closer to practical work. Five groups are open: our purpose and decisions, starting a nonprofit, finding a place, spreading the word and welcoming people. A separate housing conversation is comparing existing buildings, manufactured homes and building on site.

The next steps are to describe what people need, compare full costs and develop proposals we can understand together. We talked about private space and shared meals, getting around, access to care, and ways to take part as a resident, visitor or friend.

No property, ownership arrangement or resident price has been chosen. The education nonprofit’s first activities are also for the people doing that work to shape. Read what each group is exploring, including the questions still open.

What we’re working toward for November.

The October meeting opened several conversations. Here is the starting agenda for our next meeting; we can refine it as the groups’ work develops.

  • Our purpose and decisions: discuss a practical proposal for how we shape the community and make choices together.
  • What the groups have learned: hear short updates on the nonprofit, places and homes, outreach and welcoming people.
  • The needs behind the plans: look at questions about cost, privacy, care, work and everyday life that should guide the next steps.
  • What comes next: find useful work people want to take on and the questions that need more attention.

A group update can be simple: what you explored, what you found and what you would like others to help think through. You do not need a finished presentation.
